J.R. Marshall, PT, owner and Physiotherapist, graduated from Dalhousie University’s School of Physiotherapy in 2006 and completed a MSc in Sports Physiotherapy from the University of Bath (UK) in 2013. He has always been active in the sports scene of Pictou County and currently acts as the team therapist for both the Pictou County Jr A Crushers and the Pictou County Senior Pipers. J.R. has completed post graduate courses in orthopedic manual therapy, acupuncture, functional dry needling, vertigo treatment and post-concussion rehabilitation.
Shannon Estabrooks, PT, is a Registered International Sport Physical Therapist and graduate of Dalhousie University. She is the founder of ActiveLife. Within the physiotherapy community, she has served on executive committee of Sport Physiotherapy Canada and lectured at Dalhousie's School of Physiotherapy. She has a special interest in rugby and artistic sports and associated injuries, and concussions.
Katie Murray, Kinesiologist-Clinic Assistant, is a 2024 graduate of the Bachelor of Kinesiology program from Acadia University. Just after graduation, she began working casually with ActiveLife, and now is a full-time team member. She has worked with the Weeks Jr A Crushers, along with Physiotherapist JR Marshall.
Lina Skoke Woods, RMT, graduated from ICT Northumberland College in 2002 with her diploma as a Registered Massage Therapist. She has 21 years experience in therapeutic massage. She has specialized training in myofascial release, passive release, trigger point therapy, deep tissue massage, sports massage and pregnancy massage.
James Inkster, RMT, is a 2016 graduate of the Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy in Vernon, British Columbia. James focuses treatment through assessment with consideration to a systemic approach. Using a variety of techniques such as myofascial and neuromuscular therapy, trigger point release, joint mobilization and muscle stretching, he aims to find and treat the cause of patients’ concerns. Along with assessment and treatment, James prides himself in providing health education for maintenance and injury prevention through post treatment home-care. Although he has a lot of practice with neck and shoulder injuries, he is well versed in a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions, such as nerve impingement of the upper and lower extremities, lumbago, and scar tissue release. He has further training in lymphatic drainage, maternity massage, and joint motion. James maintains a passion for an inclusive approach to therapy as it applies to the mental, physical and emotional health of the individual, and is excited to serve Pictou County!
Carol Ann Sweeney, owner of Fit Right Orthotics, is a Certified Pedorthist and consultant to ActiveLife. She graduated from the University of Guelph with a BSc in Human Kinetics (1994). She received her certification as a Pedorthic Technician in 2002 and became a Canadian Certified Pedorthist in 2007. As a Pedorthist, Carol Ann is proficiently trained to perform thorough foot assessments, design the required orthotic for each individual and manufacture them in her own lab. She is confident she can tackle any foot, ankle or alignment concern. She has manufactured and fitted orthotics for not only most types of footwear but she has also fabricated them for skates, ski boots and athletic cleats.
